UEFISCDI is organizing a Peer Learning Activity focused on Academic Freedom and Integrity in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), taking place in Bucharest on 19 November 2025 at the UEFISCDI venue.
This event brings together leading experts, stakeholders, and practitioners dedicated to advancing academic integrity, quality assurance, and institutional governance across higher education. Participants will explore key concepts and practical solutions, drawing on expert inputs and the latest ENQA report, and will engage in sessions addressing cultures of academic integrity, the role of quality assurance agencies, and fostering institutional integrity from the student level to governance.
The Peer Learning Activity will discuss practical approaches and expert perspectives on academic freedom and integrity in the EHEA, focusing on definitions, supporting cultures of integrity, and the role of quality assurance agencies in enhancing academic standards. Participants will also engage with insights from specialists on fostering institutional integrity and examine Nordic initiatives and monitoring strategies from leading practitioners.
Additionally, the program will address emerging challenges related to academic integrity in connection with artificial intelligence, offering evidence-based analysis from international experts. This event is designed to support networking, the sharing of best practices, and collaborative dialogue among professionals, policymakers, and academics.
The event is part of the "New building blocks of the Bologna Process: implementing a common understanding of fundamental values – NewFAV 2" project, coordinated by UEFISCDI in cooperation with the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) and European Students’ Union (ESU), with funding from the European Commission. The project is further supported by the European University Association (EUA) as an associated partner.
